KSET Result 2026 Out – Provisional Score List @ cetonline.karnataka.gov.in

Short Information: KEA has released the KSET Result 2026 provisional score list at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Check your scorecard, qualifying marks and what the final merit list will decide.

Good news for Karnataka’s aspiring assistant professors — with one important footnote you’ll want to understand before celebrating. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released the KSET Result 2026, and around 1,17,017 candidates who sat the exam on 11 October 2026 can now check their scores on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.

Now the footnote. What KEA has published is the provisional score list, prepared from the revised answer keys issued on 23 October after objections to the initial keys were reviewed. The final qualified list, subject-wise cut-offs and eligibility certificates haven’t been announced yet. So yes, check your score — but treat it as provisional until KEA confirms the final list.

How to Check Your KSET Scorecard

  1. Visit the KEA portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.
  2. Open the KSET 2026 result / scorecard link.
  3. Enter your application number and date of birth.
  4. Your scorecard will show your name, roll number, subject code, paper-wise marks, total and qualifying status. Download it and keep a copy safe.

The Exam Behind the Result

KSET 2026 ran across 37 subjects in a single three-hour session, and the pattern explains a lot about how your score was built:

Paper I Teaching and research aptitude (common to all) 50 questions 100 marks
Paper II Chosen subject 100 questions 200 marks
Total — 150 questions 300 marks

Every question carried 2 marks, and — a relief for many — there was no negative marking. That matters when you’re reading your scorecard, because it means your total reflects everything you attempted, with no deductions dragging it down.

Qualifying Marks: The Part Most People Misread

Clearing the minimum aggregate is necessary, but it isn’t the whole story. Here’s the bar:

General Merit 40% aggregate across both papers combined
Reserved categories (SC, ST, Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, PwD, Transgender) 35% aggregate across both papers combined

Meeting that aggregate only puts you in the qualified pool. From that pool, only the top 6% of candidates in each subject and category are actually declared KSET-qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility. So if your score clears 40% or 35% but sits below your subject’s top-6% line, the certificate won’t follow yet. That’s why the final merit list matters more than today’s provisional scores — it draws the real line.

What the Provisional List Can and Can’t Tell You

It’s tempting to read a provisional score and start planning your next step — or worrying about it. But here’s what this list actually is: a score computed from the revised keys, published so candidates can see where they stand before the final merit process runs. It doesn’t yet apply the top-6% rule, it doesn’t publish subject-wise cut-offs, and it doesn’t issue certificates. KEA will also have to resolve any remaining discrepancies and verify category claims before the final list. So if your score looks borderline, don’t write yourself off — and if it looks comfortable, don’t stop checking the portal. The final list is the document that counts.

There’s also a practical point about timing. KEA moved fast on this cycle: exam on 11 October, initial key on 12 October, revised key on 23 October, provisional result on 26 October. That pace suggests the final list may not be far behind, though KEA hasn’t given a date. Check cetonline.karnataka.gov.in every few days rather than relying on second-hand updates, because the final list will appear there first.

KSET vs UGC-NET: Don’t Confuse the Two

New candidates often ask whether KSET and UGC-NET are interchangeable. They’re not. UGC-NET is the national eligibility test, valid across India, while KSET is Karnataka’s state-level test, valid for Assistant Professor posts within the state’s universities and colleges. Many Karnataka aspirants take both, and the syllabi overlap heavily — Paper I is nearly identical in spirit — but the certificates, conducting bodies and cut-off processes are entirely separate. If you hold a NET certificate, you don’t need KSET for the same post, and vice versa within Karnataka. Knowing which one you’re chasing keeps your preparation and your paperwork straight.

What Should You Do Now?

First, download and save your scorecard — don’t rely on the portal staying up or your login working months later. Second, keep an eye on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in for the final qualified list and subject-wise cut-offs. Third, if you qualify, start collecting your documents for the eligibility certificate process, which KEA will notify separately.

And what does the certificate actually get you? KSET eligibility qualifies you to apply for Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges across Karnataka — it’s the state-level equivalent of NET for the state’s institutions. It doesn’t itself give you a job; universities run their own recruitment, and you’ll still face interviews and merit lists there. But without the eligibility, you can’t even enter that race. That’s why candidates treat the top-6% line as seriously as they do: it’s the gate, not the destination.

And if you fell short this time, remember the pattern hasn’t changed in years: two papers, 300 marks, no negative marking. That’s a very preparable exam.
